(PHASES) Phase 2: How to Make Someone Your Vice

You must mark the date you meet them,

relive every moment for whatever reason you find befitting,

the second quarter of the year,

the month of Agrahayana,

the day you decided to wake up from the wrong side of the bed,

you must remember every detail

the obscurity of a shirt that they wear,

the sadness paving way at the widening curves of their lips,

the wrinkles sitting there,

the aloofness they carry like an ornament,

the sun on their skin with so much candor,

how they seem to carry more power than they appear to possess,

You must not leave a spot unturned,

take it in, replay, reflect and overthink,

and as your brain takes a mind of its own,

loose care to your eagerness,

with the way you wait to see them again,

the thought of them taking shape in your head rent-free

You cannot catch yourself while slipping,

taking a good look for a split second,

and one more time,

followed by another excuse to gawk again,

let the feeling of wanting something you didn’t bargain for consume you

Butterflies or sanctuaries,

pick your poison with reckless abandon

You cannot fight to hold back anymore,

dazed at the gravity to which they subdue your senses,

watch yourself failing to hide the smirk you have,

embracing all the cards with the love clichés,

realizing you wouldn’t have it any other way

You shake your head in disbelief,

What the hell is love,

if it betrays your cynicism,

or reach for your soul without permission,

but you’ve only known control until now

You are now far from constraint,

hope defying everything that’s left of your reasoning

fantasizing how they’d work up your spine,

tracing their skin in a familiar fascination,

leaving each other’s mark

While you dream, hope for some miracle to ensue,

that when you yearn, they’ll give you a sign

perhaps they’ll return your glares till you have to take your eyes away,

or make the first move if they are brave enough,

when they don’t, pray that you find the courage for both of you instead,

Otherwise, enjoy your inner monologues,

contemplating on when the heartbreak should kick in,

have fun knowing that the only chemistry happening,

would be between your double tap and their timeline.
